Surfers Paradise, not our favorite spot but we were fascinate by two things: the hair straightener in the public bathrooms and Metermaids! Metermaids are hot girls putting money into parking meters around the town! There are never any parking tickets issued in the city, thanks to them!

Back to civilization! Short stop in Brisbane for couple of hours of sightseeing and lunch!

Precis!

Frazer Island sunset, the next morning we left for new adventures.

While rest of our group chose to sit by the pool or go for a drive around the island, the true Swedes went for a 25 km hike to and back from a beautiful freshwater lake McKenzie! ;) Two of us alone, with backpack with some food and water, and of course no phone coverage we closed the dingo fence surrounding the resort and walked, walked, walked and yes walked some more. Luckily, swiming in the lake was allowed ( the ocean around the island not, because of the huge shark population) and we did soak in the pool after the hike. The hike was great, one of the best things we have done so far :)

Off to Frazer Island, world's biggest sand island, famous for being only place in the world were there are still pure dingos (wild dogs) living! We were staying in eco-lodges, constructed to melt in the woods of the island :)

Rockhampton "Rocky"- the beef capitol of Queensland! And what is more appropriate than to have some of that famous beef in Rocky accompanied by a rodeo!

Airlie Beach, one of backpackers' favourites. We had to see what it was all about! We ended up at Beaches, eating kangooro and drinking Australian rum Bundaberg and coke in a can!!! The Aussies do love buying beer and coctails in a pitcher! Go figure! :)

Another reminder of why it is not perfered to swim in the ocean :)

Finally, some hard core sailing!!!!!!!

British Defender took us to one of the most beautiful beaches in the world , the Whitehaven Beach!!!! Amazing, beautiful, georgous!!!

And so we went sailing for three days! Our temporary home= British Defender, a beauty that actually sailed in Around the World Races. Usually needing a crew of 40 people, we sailed with only three, meaning that the 20 guests had to help out! Great fun, mate!

Heading south...Small town of Bowen, known as Bowenwood! The set of the big movie that is coming up, Australia! Actually more famous for the its major export of mangos! If you want to taste the best mango ever, this is the place to be! :)

The highway...aussie outback highway that is. No wonder they don't recommed for tourists to go driving out here. Meeting another vehicals can be a bit dangerous! Bob knows, he experienced it the hard way on our outback trip. :(

Sunset in the outback with bubbly and fruits! Love it!!! As soon as the dark came it was time for night safari and visit to lavatube looking for bats and snakes. Oh yes, we found both :S

As the sun started to descend, we headed for some adventure, wild safari! First encounter was with the kangaroos, they seemed calm when we approached them but on their watch! The two rangers that we had with us were amazing, telling us facts, stories and anecdotes from the bush! So funny! And they are crazy too...kind of Steve Irwing crazy :) One of the guys literally jump out of the safari bus while still moving and started chasing and throwing himsef on something...few seconds later he was back with this cool lizard :)

Outback!!! Undara Volcanic National park and our home for two days! Bushwalk was short due to the hot hot hot weather!

Out on the Great Barrier Reef! The reef was great, not as good visibility and colours as in Red Sea but still beautiful. The highlight: Diving with the turtles and actually touching one! :)

This is BOB...and this is his driver Cary, both hilarious Aussies that are taking us from one adventure to the other! Bob doesn't work if the day doesn't start with the song "Down under" from Man at work!!! Nope, we are not sick of it, yet!!! :)

From Kuranda we took the skyrail down to the Tjapukai. The beautiful scenery over the rainforest and the ocean was breathetaking. At Tjapukai we enjoyed great dinner and dancing with the local Aboriginials.
